A fungus called candida is responsible for the yeast infection. This is a microorganism that occurs naturally in vaginal area. Lactobacillus bacteria check the growth of it. However, if there are certain imbalances in the body system these bacteria are not able to work properly. The improper and ineffective working of the lactobacillus bacteria enhances the growth of the yeast. As a result vaginal infection occurs.

Candida is responsible for most of the yeast infection. However, these yeast infections are treatable. If you are suffering from this infection it is advisable to take proper medical care and expert's advice. Generally a lab test is conducted to know the type of the candida causing infection.

As already told that imbalances in the body system leads to the enhancement in growth of the yeast the real question is how these imbalances occur. Following are some of the reasons that sums up to these imbalances:

  • Pregnancy
  • Diabetes
  • Intake of antibiotics
  • Douching
  • Eating disorders
  • Stress
  • Irregular menstruation cycle or hormonal imbalances.
  • Less sleep
  • Unhealthy immune system.

Symptoms of Yeast Infection:

The symptoms of such infections are quite common and easily recognizable. Negligence of such symptoms will only enhance your problem. The untreated infection increases the severity of the symptoms. Following are some common symptoms of yeast infection:

  • Burning sensation.
  • Excess itching problem.
  • Rashes.
  • Watery or thick grey discharge from vagina.
  • Soreness
  • Painful sex.

Prevention of vaginal infection:

  • Tight undergarments should be avoided.
  • Cleanliness is essential.
  • Avoid using clothes during period instead opt for good quality pads.
  • Avoid unbalanced diet.
  • Products with lactobacillus should be taken for example yogurt.
  • Try and opt for wearing natural fibers like silk and cotton.

Prevention is always better than cure but if still you have developed such infection do not hesitate to consult a doctor.
