Sunglasses are a major form of fashion accessories but they are more importantly used to protect eyes from the harsh effects of ultra-violet rays. According to doctors, you should use sunglasses for two reasons-comfort and health.

Protection against UV rays

Sunglasses restrict the direct exposure of eyes to the harmful ultraviolet light of the sun and also protects the eyelids and the delicate skin around the eyes.

Ophthalmologists believe that eyes, when exposed to sunrays directly, can cause painful sunburns around the delicate eye area and enhance the macular degeneration and cataract problem of the eyes.

Moreover, the skin around the eyelid is more at risk of developing skin cancer. Hence using glasses while you are traveling is very much important.

Sunglasses provide protection against brightness and glare of the sun, which improves visual performance ability, and comfort level.

Sunglasses for Comfort

Usually, for better comfort, doctors advise the use of polarized lenses that are highly effective in blocking glare. However, outdoor sports player who play golf or similar games can find such lenses inhibitive.

Choosing the Right Sunglasses

  • You should use sunglasses that are capable of blocking 99 percent of UVA and B rays.
  • It is better to choose the glasses on the advice of your doctor or least you should buy sunglasses that carries the accepted optometric seal effective in protecting your eyes against UV rays.
  • Good sunglasses are not necessarily highly expensive however sometimes the lens optics and the frames make them costlier. Try to pick up lenses that are optically ground since they are comparatively free from distortion than other sunglasses with the pressed lens.

Thus, people should not only wear sunglasses while traveling but anytime whenever they are outdoors while working, taking a walk, working under the sun, running errands or participating or viewing any sports.
